Did you know that even on a cold day, heat naturally occurs in the air, ground, and water? Clever engineers and plumbers have developed a smart device called a Heat Pump that can capture this heat and transfer it into your home to keep you warm!
Reasons to be Hopeful:
Heat pumps provide us with a route to stop using fossil fuels to heat our homes.
They only need a small amount of electricity to work, which can come from solar and wind, making them even more eco-friendly.
As if is this isn’t magic enough, heat pumps are also highly energy-efficient. While boilers are 70-90% efficient, heat pumps can be 200-500% efficient. This means for every unit of energy you put in, you get less than one unit of heat from a boiler, but up to five units of heat from a heat pump.
Sometimes, Heat Pumps can be tricky to use in older buildings. However, Adam, the founder of Heat Geek, has spent a long time working to solve this problem. At Heat Geek, not only are they working to make Heat Pumps more efficient, but they also provide specialist training to heating engineers on how to install them. Heat Geek’s mission is to increase the number of Heat Pumps being used in homes in the UK inorder to help people access decarbonised heating.
